We all know how it goes with diabetes.
You can do the same, exact thing every day – eat the same meal at the same time, while taking the same amount of insulin – and still get different results:
Dangerous, life-threatening lows. Or damaging, spiky highs.
When this happens, we might throw up our hands and say:
“Welp, that's just diabetes! There's nothing we can do.”
It makes you wonder: “What am I missing?”
Maybe the answer hides in the patterns between your blood sugar, insulin doses, meals, exercise, and everything else that makes your diabetes uniquely yours.
You might think to ask AI what's going on. AI knows everything these days. But first, you have to explain everything that's going on.
And that means manually pulling your Dexcom Clarity Data, taking screenshots of your Omnipod event logs, explaining your ratios, or describing what you ate or whether you exercised to ChatGPT.
What's worse: by the time you've painstakingly gathered everything, it's already too late to act.
And meanwhile, you endure the blood sugar roller coaster. Diabetes is hard enough; if only things were easier.

You want perfect blood sugars without the hassle. You want to live your life, not spend it worrying about your blood sugar.
Insulin pumps get us part way there. They respond automatically to fluctuations in our blood sugar, and in doing so, they allow us to exhale when managing our diabetes.
But they're not perfect, and the reality is that we must think like a pancreas to manage our condition effectively.
We must master our individual patterns – a delicate balance of meals, exercise, and timing – without feeling like we have to solve calculus problems just to eat a meal.

Who are you anyway? A backstory.
Hi, I'm Jason, the creator of Navi, and I've been a T1D since 2017.
Diagnosis
Like many, my diagnosis story was traumatic and filled with misunderstanding.
One sunny Saturday morning at the age of 25, I received a fateful phone call that my labs were ready, and that I needed to come into the doctor's office immediately.
Then bam – the doctor revealed that my A1C was 14.0+. So high that it wasn't worth reporting the actual number. That meant that my blood sugar averaged more than 355 mg/dL (or 19.7 mmol/L) for who knows how long.
I was then misdiagnosed with type 2 diabetes (because of the age of onset), and left with nothing more than a bottle of metformin and a CGM.
Like many, I was left alone, and forced to deal with the condition on my own.
Honeymoon
Armed with only my CGM, I knew that I needed to keep my blood sugar under control. I didn't want to have salami fingers or toe amputations. I wanted to live and give back to the world.
So I tried my absolute hardest.
After each meal, I would ride a stationary bike for upwards of 2 hours just to bring my blood sugar back down.
And it worked, for awhile.
I thought, “I'll bike forever if I have to.” I'm never one to back down from a challenge. I'm going to live, even if it means having to bike for an hour after every meal.
Until I couldn't. One day, after having lost 22 pounds, after whittling my meals down to celery sticks, almonds, and avocados (and still having to bike off the rise in blood sugar), I broke down in complete tears.
My mom held me while I cried:
“It's so hard. It's so hard.”
It was hard. I was managing insulin-dependent, type one diabetes with exercise alone. Someone should have given me insulin all along.
A Second Life
Eventually, I did get a proper diagnosis, and started on insulin.
And through a lot of trial and error, and studiously recording the meals that I ate in the app Cronometer, I gradually learned all the patterns behind how my blood sugar responded to meals.
I learned how protein and fat affected my blood sugars several hours later, and that very large protein meals have a dramatically delayed effect. I learned that mornings meant that your insulin sensitivity was diminished. I learned that seemingly innocuous events such as public speaking would spike my blood sugar a bit, or that lifting weights in the mornings would dramatically spike my blood sugar.
Gradually, I fine-tuned my boluses and insulin regimen in response. I worked to eliminate any highs or lows.
And it's been a huge success. These days, my blood sugar hovers between an A1C of 4.8 to 5.0. From a 14.0+ to (essentially) non-diabetic blood sugars. If there was ever a success story, I'm living proof of it.
And I'd love to share these results with others.
